Questions: 2002 mercury sable ls 200hp 33K miles. Starts, runs good but when slowing down to breed a stop motor stalls, but will start right back up. never misses a tempo going down highway at any speed. no warning lights come on beforehand it stalls. What's the problem?

I am having indistinguishable problem. I changed the IAC ($50), it didn't help. Then I run the codes, none set. Then I disconnected the Mass Air Flow Sensor & it seemed to fix the problem, reconnected it - the problem come back, took it past its sell-by date again & it wnet away. So I changed the MAF ($120) and thought I fixed it. But it is stalling again after a couple days. What I do see is that it only have the problem when the Heat, Air (HVAC) system is on. Throttle Position sensor is next thought, but I am tired of spending money and not fixing it. Any backing would be appreciated.

Ford Motor Company chooses to regulate the idle RPM of its vehicle by using an idle nouns control (IAC) solenoid, which is a very small motor controlled by the powertrain control module. The IAC regulates the amount of nouns passing through two small holes contained by the intake elbow, which are on either side of the butterfly contained by the throttle body. In effect it is a controlled air bleed when the butterfly is closed (when your foot is past its sell-by date the accelerator and on the brake), and if the IAC is experiencing problems (or if the air holes it regulates are blocked) it will be inept to regulate the idle and would raison d`¨ºtre the problem you describe.

This would be the first area I would check. No check engine restrained is a curious problem, usually when a vehicle stalls it has a trouble which would trigger the SES trouble light.
